the love of god

Everyone experiences love in their lifetime, but there is no greater love than the love God has for us. God loves everyone, the believers and the nonbelievers, the sinners, the addicts, atheists, and criminals. God loves everyone regardless of what we may have done.

I was raised in church and believed in God, one day I ran and found solace in drugs. I became addicted to them and partied all the time, but despite all this God still loved me. Though I was running from Him, He was running behind me waiting for me to turn and run back into His embrace. I spent years running until one day I stopped and He welcomed me back with open arms. That is the power of His love, He can forgive you if you ask and He never stops loving us.

John 3:16 shows just how much God loves us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

As a parent, I couldn’t imagine losing my daughter. But God loved us sinners enough that He gave us Jesus to wash away our sins so that we can experience life in Heaven with Him.

Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

1 John 4:16 says, “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”

When we live as christians we are told to love one another (John 13:34 and 1 John 4:11) as God has loved us. This could be difficult for those of us that may have been wronged, but if God can learn to love those who have wronged Him then surely we can also do the same.

So no matter what you have done, He loves you. Even if you run, He will be waiting for you to return to Him. God’s love is everlasting, no matter what or who you are.
