We know that in the Bible it says we must seek forgiveness and also offer forgiveness to others. Though sometimes that may be hard to do when we are tasked with forgiving those who have wronged us. But when we forgive others we are also able to find peace within ourselves.
Jesus says in Matthew 6:14-15, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Forgiveness can be hard, but is vital that we pray and learn to forgive others for the troubles they may have caused. We are all flesh, and with that we all make mistakes. No one is a perfect person or even a perfect christian. When we do wrong, we expect God to forgive us. God wants us to forgive others, too.
Colossians 3:13 says, “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
With Easter coming up, I’m sure everyone can remember the story of Jesus dying on the cross. Jesus died for our sins. He experienced the most inhumane form of torture, but He did that for us, so that we could be forgiven. He even asked God to forgive those who had tortured Him. If Jesus could forgive those that caused Him pain and those who contributed to His death upon the cross, then surely we can find it in our heart to forgive others. When we hold grudges and hold the hate in our hate that brews when we don’t forgive, that can hinder your walk with God, (Mark 11:25). You don’t have to continue to have relations with those who wronged you, but forgiveness is a vital step and will bring peace to you knowing you have fulfilled God’s desire and will also be forgiven for your wrongdoings.
Continue to pray and seek God, He can help you if you struggle with forgiving others.
Have a blessed day.
